The Opportunity

Working in the male-dominated field of product management, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with many talented women. Recognizing the need to amplify these voices and make product management literature more inclusive, I partnered with four other Mulheres de Produto ambassadors to create something special: Brazil’s first collaborative book on product management, written entirely by women.

My Role

As Project Manager and Contributing Author on this two-year project, I was involved in a wide range of responsibilities:

  • Project Management: I managed project timelines, schedules, and deadlines, ensuring the project stayed on track.

  • Author Recruitment & Selection: I invited and selected 30 accomplished women product managers to contribute their expertise and insights to the book.

  • Editorial Direction & Content Strategy: Define the overall editorial direction, created the book’s index, and determined the sequence of chapters to create a cohesive and engaging narrative.

  • Content Review & Editing: Review and edit over 30 articles, providing feedback and guidance to the authors.

  • Contributing Author: In addition to my project management role, I also wrote the book’s introductory chapter.

  • Publisher Negotiations: I negotiated deadlines and royalty fees with Casa do Código, our publisher.

  • Launch Strategy & Execution: I developed and executed the book’s launch strategy, including organizing the launch event.

Results & Impact

  • Strong Sales: The book sold 1,000 copies, demonstrating significant interest in this unique and important project.

  • Reinvested Proceeds: As a non-profit endeavor, all royalties earned by Mulheres de Produto were reinvested to print additional copies of the book, further expanding its reach and impact.

  • Increased Visibility for Women in Product: The book provided a valuable platform for women in product management to share their experiences and expertise, contributing to a more diverse and inclusive conversation within the field.

Team (with deep gratitude to my fellow collaborators): Talita Morais, Beatriz Waclavek, Jessica Rabelo, and Bruna Gonçalves. And of course, a huge thank you to the 30 incredible women who contributed their writing and expertise!
